How to measure your pet
Use a soft fabric tape measure or a piece of string. Never use a metal ruler — it can't flex around your pet's body.

Grab a soft tape measure
A fabric sewing tape works best. If you only have string, measure the string against a ruler afterward.
Step 2
Keep your pet calm
Have your pet stand naturally on all four legs. Treats help! Avoid measuring when they're sitting or lying down.
Step 3
Wrap snugly, not tight
The tape should sit flush against the fur — not digging in, not loose. You should be able to slip 2 fingers underneath.
Step 4
Note the measurement
Write it down in inches. When your pet falls between two sizes, always size up for comfort and safety.

Measure around the base of your dog's neck
- 1Use a soft fabric tape measure or a piece of string.
- 2Wrap around the base of the neck where the collar sits.
- 3Add 2 fingers of space — the collar should be snug but not tight.
- 4Between sizes? Always size up.

- 2Wrap around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
- 3Keep the tape snug but not tight — 2 fingers should fit underneath.
- 4Between sizes? Always size up for harnesses.
